REVIEWS :

Marking the transition from the earliest Scorn tracks that focused on slow, grinding metallic textures to the more sparse ambient dub that Scorn would later be known for, Lick Forever Dog serves as a great summary of Vae Solis. The A side features mixes of the title track and begin with prominent guitar riffs ala Streetcleaner era GODFLESH. However, as the tracks progress and the record flips, the repetitive cylce of drone/bass/beat takes over to hint at the direction Scorn would take with later releases. Nick Bullen's vocals here are anguished, but there is decidedly more lyrical content in Lick Forever Dog than in later Scorn where the lyrics trickled down to a few scant lines, repeated like the musical bed beneath them.

This is the single for the song "Lick Forever Dog" from the album "Vae Solis". The edited version of the song fades out at the blast beat of the song instead of continuing on, but that's the only difference. The remix of "On Ice" is one of my favorite Scorn songs, it's a very strange dub indeed. The remixes of "Heavy Blood" have a strange dancy quality to them that is quite unlike the usual Scorn stuff. A short album, but the "On Ice" remix is definitely worth the cover price.
